According to the American Cancer Society the next prescription drugs are going to help you quit smoking (Information only):Varenicline (Chantix)
Effects:- It reduces the pleasure a person gets from smoking
- It reduces the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal
Side Effects:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Headache
- Sleeping troubles
- Gas
- Changes in taste
Bupropion (Zyban, Wellbutrin, Aplenzin)
Effects:- Reduce cravings of nicotine
- Reduce symptoms of nicotine withdrawal
Side Effects:
- Dry mouth
- Trouble sleeping and nightmares
- Tiredness
- Agitation
- Irritability
- Indigestion
- Nausea
- Headaches
Nortriptyline
Effects:- Reduce tobacco withdrawal symptoms
Side effects:
- Fast heart rate
- Blurred vision
- Trouble urinating
- Dry mouth
- Constipation
- Weight gain or loss
- Low blood pressure
